Doriann Pieve-Hyland, Director of the College Help Desk.
You have been a member of the College community since 1991 and you are alumna of the College of Staten Island, having earned your two Bachelor of Arts degrees in History, and Science, Letters, and Society in 1994. In your role as Director of the College Help Desk, you have played a crucial role in helping students, faculty, and staff to understand ever-changing computer technology that can serve, but can also frustrate. You coordinate laboratory use and staffing, and provide training for all members of the College community. You have also been the driving force behind two new initiatives: the Technology Fair and New Faculty Information Day. You created an online knowledge base so that our students can find answers to their questions, as well as online tutorials for College computer users. In addition, you have played a pivotal role in two key technology-training projects: the Center for Excellence in Learning Training (CELT) and the Student Technology Skill Initiative, and you have also made significant contributions toward the implementation of CUNYfirst at the College.
Today, we celebrate your tireless dedication, commitment, and contribution to our campus community.
