Commencement 2010
The College of Staten Island recognized the Class of 2010’s 2,106 degree candidates on Thursday, May 27, 2010. Commencement began with welcoming remarks from College President Dr. Tomás Morales, as well as greetings from CUNY Trustee Kay Pesile ‘73 and CUNY Senior Vice Chancellor for University Relations and Secretary of the Board of Trustees, Jay Hershenson, on behalf of CUNY Chancellor Dr. Matthew Goldstein.
This year’s honorary degree recipient is Richmond College alumna and President of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU), Dr. Muriel Howard ‘71, received a Doctor of Humane Letters degree. Prior to her current post at AASCU, Dr. Howard served as president of Buffalo State College from 1996 to 2009. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Elementary Education from Richmond College and a Master’s degree in Education and a PhD in Educational Organization, Administration, and Policy from the University of Buffalo.
