We honor with the Dolphin Award for Outstanding Scholarly Achievement by a Member of the Full-Time Faculty:
Marianne Jeffreys, Professor, Department of Nursing.
You joined the Nursing faculty at the College of Staten Island in 1987 and you became a part of the faculty of the CUNY Graduate Center in 2008. You received a BA in Nursing from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh and Master of Arts, Master of Education, and Doctor of Education degrees in Nursing Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. Throughout your distinguished career you have made vast contributions to nursing scholarship as a pioneer in the areas of cultural competence and transcultural nursing, as well as through your focus on nursing student retention and mentoring. You are also a prolific scholar, having written two books, three book chapters, and numerous refereed articles. In addition, you have worked to ease the academic experience of nursing students at the College by writing the successful grant for the Nursing Student Resource Center in Marcus Hall.
You exemplify CSI’s ideal of an academic and teacher who shines in the field and advances the noble cause of knowledge.
