Dolphin Award for Outstanding Service and Contribution to the College by a Member of the Non-Instructional Staff in CLT and OIT Specialists Title:
Victor Magnani
You have been a member of the College community and the Director of Special Projects and Server Support for the Office of Information Technology since the year 2000. You are one of those employees at the College who performs critical tasks, but who does so behind the scenes, and when things run smoothly, because of your commitment to your work, people don’t realize the vast amount of effort that you put forth. Your responsibility is the daunting task of ensuring that the College’s Website and servers run smoothly, 24 hours a day/seven days a week. This requires that you be on call 24/7 and that you have to come to campus to address problems even in the face of electrical outages and storms, like you did the day after Superstorm Sandy. If that weren’t enough of a responsibility, you also are tasked with implementing and supporting software packages that are used by various campus offices, including the upgrade and support of the Electronic Music Lab, and you are the only person to serve as Application Security Liaison for CUNYfirst, a task for which most CUNY colleges have dedicated five people. However, regardless of your extremely heavy workload, you handle the position singlehandedly, working tirelessly to ensure that the College’s users have correct security and access to the new system.
Your years of diligent hard work and service have been a great benefit to this College, its students, and faculty.
