Dolphin Award for Outstanding Scholarly Achievement by a Member of the Full-Time Faculty: Soon Chun, Associate Professor, School of Business
You joined the Business faculty at the College of Staten Island in 2005 and you are also a member of the Doctoral faculty at The Graduate Center, CUNY. You received a BA in English Education from Busan National University; an MA in Linguistics and an MS in Computer Science from SUNY, Buffalo; and an MBA in Management Science/Information Systems and a PhD in Information Technology from Rutgers University. You have made significant contributions to the field of Information Management with primary areas of research in Database, Security, and Privacy, focusing on problems in industry and healthcare, national security, and environmental protection. Your work has also supported the College’s initiatives in big data and high-performance computing. You are a prolific writer with more than 100 peer-reviewed journal articles, conference papers, and book chapters, and you have edited a number of special issues of major journals and served on many editorial boards. For your efforts, you have received numerous awards and grants, including two NSF grants, one as the Principal Investigator and another as a Senior Investigator, and you participated in a third NSF grant as a researcher. Finally, you are a dedicated teacher and colleague, having served the College and University in a wide variety of roles, including co-coordinator of the undergraduate degree program in Information Systems.
