Dolphin Award for Outstanding Service and Contribution to the College by a Member of the Non-Teaching Instructional Staff in the HEO Title: Kathleen Galvez, Special Assistant for Legal Affairs and Labor Designee
You were hired by Richmond College as Director of Faculty/Staff Relations in 1974. You have served this College as an attorney for more than 40 years, providing invaluable assistance and guidance to students, faculty, and staff in a wide range of areas, including labor and employment law, non-discrimination, compliance, ethics, student life, institutional governance, and constitutional law. Beyond those enormous contributions, you have also left an indelible mark in internationalization and immigration services. You assisted in the establishment of the first study abroad and student exchange program at Richmond College, and you welcomed a student from Nigeria who was participating in that program into your home. As this program expanded, you were instrumental in forging agreements with additional overseas institutions and developing policies and procedures. Your efforts didn’t stop at our students, however. You have also been a driving force in the sponsorship of new faculty, making CSI the first CUNY college to conduct immigration sponsorship activities in-house. As a result, CSI is now regarded as the CUNY leader in this area. These efforts also continue to strengthen our faculty, allowing for broad searches to find the best candidates. Thanks to you, the College has a world-class faculty and our students are receiving preparation to be citizens of the world, which is in tandem with our Mission and founding principles.
