Dolphin Award for Outstanding Service and Contribution to the College by a Member of the Non-Instructional Staff in Maintenance, Operations, Security, and Support Function: Barbara Brancaccio, Campus Peace Officer/Sergeant, Office of Public Safety
You came to the College of Staten Island as a Campus Peace Officer in 2003. While at CSI, you have continuously worked to improve your performance at work, while building a solid academic foundation from which to serve the campus community better. You earned an AA in Liberal Arts in 2006, a BA in Women’s Studies in 2008, and an MA in Liberal Arts in 2012. You are currently working on a second Master’s, in Social Work. During your tenure here, you have participated in numerous in-service training opportunities to assume additional responsibilities including bicycle patrol certification, emergency medical technician training, certified Security Officer training, and, most recently, Rape Aggression Defense Systems training. Your consistent academic and professional development has led to your promotion to the position of corporal in 2014, and in 2016, you scored in the top bracket of candidates in the CUNY Public Safety Sergeant’s Promotional exam. Your participation in a number of committees and organizations, such as the Committee to Prevent Sexual Misconduct, Abuse, and Violence, and the newly created (Staten Island) Family Justice Center, which helps victims of crime, including domestic violence, underscores your deep commitment to members of the campus and Staten Island communities.
